July 19, 2018: Our two science teachers, Sarah Judy and Brittany White, just completed two days of solar energy professional development with The Center for Energy Education (C4EE). These two educators are psyched about our school going solar!
June 18, 2018: We met today with NC Greenpower's engineer, J.R. Whitley, and representatives from the Town of Tarboro and Electricities to do a site analysis. We've found a great location for our solar panel that will provide both SHADE and save ENERGY! We're going to position the panel as an awning over the entrance to our main lobby (by our front office). Yes, that means students will actually walk UNDER our panel on their way into the building! Cool, huh?
Rocky Mount Prep has been granted a Solar Energy grant that will allow for the installation of solar panels on campus. This educational opportunity for our scholars will help educate them and instruct them on ways to conserve energy. Our STEM teachers will be assisting with educating the scholars on how alternative forms of energy can benefit everyone.
This is very exciting for Rocky Mount Prep! We have the responsibility to fund raise 1/3 of the expenses for the installation. You can help us reach our goal of $15,000 by August 31 and help Rocky Mount Prep head towards becoming Green!
