West Wilkes High School is Fundraising For Solar!

About this Campaign

We’re raising money to receive a 5 kW solar installation from NC GreenPower – a nonprofit that launched a pilot program to provide matching grants to NC K-12 schools for installing solar PV. Please donate to help support our campaign!

To make a donation via check, please make payable to “NC GreenPower” and be sure to note our school in the “memo” section of the check. Mail to NC GreenPower, Attn: Jenna Key, 909 Capability Drive, Suite 2100, Raleigh, NC 27606

By installing this renewable energy project, West Wilkes will be able to offer more STEM-related educational opportunities to our students. The lead group for the solar installation will be our AP Environmental students. They will take point on the selection site using Solar Pathfinder tools and will monitor progress on permit issues, working as closely as possible with our installation experts. They will serve as ambassadors to the community as we show our progress to our community supporters. Finally, they will monitor energy output and track and record progress over time.

Please help us reach our goal! We have until October 12, 2018 to raise our funds.

About NC GreenPower:
With the mission of improving the quality of the environment in North Carolina, the nonprofit NC GreenPower was founded in 2003 as a statewide program. NC GreenPower helps to connect consumers with renewable energy and carbon offset providers to create positive environmental and economic impacts for our state. All projects supported by the program are located in North Carolina. In 2015, NC GreenPower launched a new pilot to support solar PV installations at K-12 schools. We need your help to continue our efforts to improve our home state and lay the groundwork for a cleaner, brighter future. Contributions to NC GreenPower are tax-deductible.
